Chemical stability of the water is known as coolant. In other words coolant is a chemical compound as form of liquid or gas which used to reduce and control on excess heat of the engine and protect from freezing at minimum temperature. 

Type of  coolant for car:-

There are several type of coolant for car available into the market but there are three basic type of coolant which we discussion now. 

1. Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) Coolant

HOAT coolant is a modern, advanced option that combines the benefits of traditional ethylene glycol with organic acid additives. This blend provides superior protection against corrosion and cavitation. 

HOAT coolants are commonly found in newer vehicles, especially those from European manufacturers. 

They offer extended service intervals and robust protection for aluminum engine components, making them a popular choice among car enthusiasts.

2. Inorganic Acid Technology (IAT) Coolant

IAT coolants are the oldest type of antifreeze and are characterized by their green color. They contain inorganic additives, which provide effective protection against corrosion. 

However, IAT coolants require more frequent maintenance and don't offer the extended service life of HOAT or OAT coolants. 

They are still found in some older vehicles and industrial applications.

3. Organic Acid Technology (OAT) Coolant

OAT coolants are a step up from IAT coolants in terms of performance and longevity. They contain organic acid additives, which offer improved corrosion protection and a longer service life. 

OAT coolants are often used in modern vehicles, including many Japanese and American brands. They typically have a distinctive pink or orange color, making them easy to identify.

4. Ethylene Glycol Coolant

Ethylene glycol coolant is perhaps the most common type of coolant found in vehicles today. It's known for its excellent heat transfer capabilities and its ability to protect against freezing temperatures. 

This coolant is typically mixed with water in a 50/50 ratio, as recommended by most manufacturers. The advantages of ethylene glycol coolant include its cost-effectiveness and wide availability. However, it's crucial to handle it with care, as it can be toxic if ingested.

5. Propylene Glycol Coolant

For those who prioritize environmental friendliness and safety, propylene glycol coolant is an excellent alternative to ethylene glycol. It offers similar freeze protection and heat transfer capabilities without the toxicity concerns. 

Propylene glycol is commonly used in RVs, boats, and certain commercial applications where contact with humans or pets is more likely. While it may be a bit more expensive than ethylene glycol, its safety advantages make it a worthy choice for many.
