What is mono-grade and multi-grade oil:-

1. Mono-grade Oil:-

The mono-grade oil is used to lubricant the engine working parts at a specific temperature only. For the mono-grade oil a single temperature is fixed by SAE (society of automobile engineering). The mono grade oil is also known as single grade oil. When temperature changed in resulting the viscosity of the oil also changed and it may lost its working capabilities.

Example:-

SAE-10 & SAE-40 according to following grades the SAE-10 is works I  low temperature then SAE-40. But the SAE-40 is works in high temperature then SAE-10. But both are used in a single temperature.

2. Multi-grade oil:-

The multi grade oil is used to lubricant the engine working parts at both low and high temperature. This oil is stable for works in both hot and cold temperature. The multi-grade grade oil have both characteristics like SAE-10w and SAE -30 so its known as SAE -10w30.

Example:-

SAE - 10w30 this grade is works in both high and low temperature according to graph as above mentioned.

Advantage of multi-grade oil:-

1. If works in both high and low temperature.

2. Do not required change oil when weather going to change.

3. It increase the engine life.

4. More loyal as compare to mono-grade oil.
