What is the gears

A round piece of wood or iron that has teeth inside or outside, and the middle point of which is one, it is called a gear. Gears is a means of transmitting Power or Torque, it can transmit power and torque at extremely high speeds, without slipping Gears is currently part of the best and most used machine.

Principle of the gears: - 

The gear works on the principle of leverage.

Type of gear   - 

Gear are as follows: -

1. Spur gear.
2. Helical gears.
3. Worm gear.
4. Skew gear.
5. Hypoid Gear.
6. Bevel Gear.
7. Ring Gear.
8. Rack & Pinion Gear

Spur gear:-

The spur gear is those whose severed teeth and axis (axis of the shaft on which the gear is mounted) are parallel and spur gear is very easy to use and they are easy to make and are more used for slow speed. The teeth of the gear are cut at 90 degrees.

Helical gear:-

A helical gear is a gear whose teeth and axis are not parallel. These gears are used to transmit power to an angle and their teeth are cut along the edge angle. So these gears engage more well than Spur gears and can run without noise. It is also a good way to transmit more torque and power at high speed.  Double helical gears are also just like that. they have the teeth on both side bowed |

Worm gear:-

Worm & Worm Gear It has a screw called a worm and the driven element is another gear such as a spur gear, helical. It is good for transmitting power for slow speed. Their gear ratio is low. You can see the worm gear in the image when the worm in the motor rotates, then the spur gear on the driven shaft will rotate, so the gear ratio will be very low. It is mostly used in the steering gear box or where there is more power and less speed.

Skew gear:-

Skew gears are also similar to worm gears, the only difference is that skew gears are used where there is more power work and drive. 

Bevel gear:-

The best example is the hand drill machine in which the bevel gear is used to transmit power at 90 °, in which transmit the power of the electric motor at 90 °, it is used in differential vehicles. In this gear, the center line of the gear and the center line of the pinion intersect.  

Hypoid gear:-

These gears are also like bevel gears, instead of replacing it, it is changed to name so in this gear, the center line of the gear and the center line of the pinion do not cut each other. 

Ring gear:-

This type of gear has teeth cut inside it, another name is also Annulus gear, it is used in EPI cycle gear train. 

Rack And Pinion:-

They are used to convert rotational motion to linear motion which is a circular gear, it is called pinion. Rack-pinion is also used in steering.
