What is cruise control and how does it work

Introduction:-

The cruise control is a electronic self control of the vehicle. This control is helps to user for drive the vehicle in constant speed but without pressing the accelerator pedal. It is used at long route on highway.

What is cruise control and how does it work:-

Construction of a cruise control system:-

The cruise control system is operated by ECU and obviously electrically. So there are many components are work together for experiencing the cruise control in a vehicle. The components are as follows-

  • ECU (Electronic control unit).
  • Steering angle sensor.
  • Wheel speed sensor.
  • Vehicle speed sensor.
  • Fuel supply sensor.
  • Accelerator pedal sensor.
  • Brake pedal sensor.
  • Clutch pedal sensor.
  • GPS sensor.
  • Cruise control instrument.

To achieving a best cruise control performance the above mentioned components work together.

Working of Cruise control:-

In the vehicle above mention all sensors detect different activities of the vehicle and sends signal to the ECU. The ECU calculate data according to received signals. Then drives the vehicle automatically as a auto pilot. But when press the brake or clutch pedal once then immediately the cruise control system stopes automatically.

What is cruise control and how does it work

On steering wheel the cruise control instrument has fitted. On this instrument there are four switches fitted first for start the cruise control, second for stop the cruise control, and remains both '+' and '-' switch are for increasing and decreasing the speed.

Types of cruise control system:-

The cruise control system is three in types which are as follows-

1. Normal cruise control.

2. Adaptive cruise control.

3. Predictive cruise control.
