What is Otto Cycle process of an Internal Combustion Engine

otto-cycle

Otto Cycle Process:-

Filling fresh air into the cylinder during an suction stroke inside an engine cylinder, compressing the air filled during the compression stroke, ignite the mixture during the power stroke, and expel the burnt gases during the exhaust stroke.

What is an otto cycle.

Otto cycle kya hai.

This entire operation is called an otto cycle, it is completed in 720 degrees. An otto cycle is completed in 4 stroke -

1.  Suction Stroke:-

(a)  Piston move TDC to BDC.
(b)  Inlet Valve Open and Exhaust Valve Close.
(c)  Crank shaft completed half rotation.
(d)  Camshaft completed 1/4 rotation.
(e)  Volume increase and pressure constant.

2.  Compression Stroke:-

(a)  Piston move BDC to TDC.
(b)  Inlet Valve and Exhaust Valve Close.
(c)  Crank shaft completed a full rotation.
(d)  Camshaft completed 1/2 rotation.
(e) Volume decrease and pressure increase.

3.  Power Stroke:-

(a)  Piston move TDC to BDC.
(b)  Inlet Valve and Exhaust Valve Close.
(c)  Crank shaft completed 1.5 rotation.(d)  Camshaft completed 1/3 rotation.
(e) Volume increase and pressure increase .

4.   Exhaust Stroke:-

(a)  Piston move BDC to TDC.
(b)  Inlet Valve Close and Exhaust Valve Open .
(c)  Crank shaft completed 2 rotation.
(d)  Camshaft completed 1 rotation.
(e)Volume decrease and pressure Decrease.

Important:-

1. An otto cycle completes in 720 degrees.

2. A stroke is completed in 180 degrees.
